I'm Bing. My friends often accuse me of taking more photos of food than I do of them.

(That is a fair assessment.)

  • Picked up this metal collar over the weekend on impulse
  • My hair is legitimately brown from sun exposure
  • Trying to follow through on wearing more colors and accessories

What I wore today to get up at 7am to cheer on a friend running a half-marathon, wander around the seaport, and then soak up some sun at a beer garden in Kendall Square. The long weekend’s been good to me so far; fingers crossed that my luck carries through tomorrow, too.

Leather bows & floral tights for the first day of April. Woke up today bright & early with surprisingly little difficulty, despite a series of late night failed attempts that started with a party that got shut down by the police and ended in a bar/club that smelled like a gym (gross). Out of all the parties and fire-hazards-waiting-to-happen that I’ve seen and experienced over the years, of course the only one that actually gets busted is one full of sober yuppies. Our only crime was blasting English boybands at 11 PM. We’re still not sorry.

Made some collars yesterday! I cut them off shirts from my local thrift shop (handy tutorial). Initially planned on embellishing them, and I glued sequins on one, but I actually prefer the plain look. I wore the cream silk one out last night and got a ton of compliments. One of my goals this year is to accessorize more, which is difficult because I’m pretty picky about jewelry so I like to think of collars as a super cheap & easy alternative.

Went to a Mardi Gras party last night. What I lack in party attitude I make up in animal print & sparkling wine.

Happy Valentine’s Day! I’ve never cared much about the day, though it also doesn’t bother me like it does some people. Anything for a cheap reason to dress in different pinks and go out for dessert.

Not enough words to describe how much I adore @quatremilliards.

Still not completely sold on the Bean boots aesthetic, but I splashed through every puddle on the walk home today. Also: primary colors forever.

I’ve been really into femininity lately - organza, chiffon, ruffles, leather bows. Trying to squeeze in as many soft aesthetics now before I’m forced to start wearing my water-resistant winter down jacket.

Woke up in a dehydrated haze today at 9 AM for brunch plans in Cambridge after crawling into bed at 3:30 AM, so I felt some color-coordination was in order to make myself look presentable.

Went out last night for a friend’s birthday at Bijou, which was a hassle getting in even with bottle service (I don’t get the hype… it’s just a club). I felt conflicted about going, because it was my first time seeing the ex since the break-up in May, but I ended up having a ton of fun, probably helped a tiny bit by Grey Goose. One of my favorite moments of the night was when I triumphantly told him I finally understood how shorting stock worked, and he countered, “Where’d you learn it? It was another guy, wasn’t it?” (It’s funny because it’s true, even if it’s a little disturbing thinking about how much finance/banking lingo I’ve picked up the past few years by osmosis alone.) I’m slowly coming to terms that it’s okay to still care about someone who’s not in your life anymore and that the past will always be subjective when viewed through the lens of the future.

Tried to hold out as long as possible, but I pulled out my wool coat and knitted tights for the first time this fall. Worse things have happened.

Finally found some time yesterday to go thrift shopping, where I picked up this super cozy knit and a pair of loafers. I was pleased to discover that my local Goodwill has an impressive book collection - lingered for the longest time on whether to get Donna Tartt’s The Little Friend, but the cover art creeped me out too much. I’d end up putting the book in the freezer, I know it.

What I wore the day I left Chicago.

For the record: taking pictures of yourself in public is pretty awkward.

What I wore to work. Learning to have fun with the dress code.

Got a haircut. I love my stylist; she understands exactly what I want and gives the best head massage.
